I made this video last night for an idea I have for a web app I want
to build. What do you think?
I just discovered animoto.com and built this little video of my kiddos. You can get a free educator account here (http://animoto.com/education)
This is an answer to my prayers. Hopefully, Baltimore City Public
Schools will unblock this part.
Josh and I decided to have a little art time and this lobster is the
end product that we came up with.
A lot has happened the past couple months with our #1 boy Joshua. Here is a little run down of all the excitement.
First, Joshua got to be the ring bearer in my cousin's wedding. We've known about this for about a year and it came down to last second of whether or not he would actually walk down the aisle. He wouldn't really take any pictures beforehand and told us numerous times he wouldn't do it. But, with a little bribery of chuck e cheese and doritos at the end,he chose to do it. He looked so cute!
Next, Joshie started pre-school. I can't believe he's that old! Technically he misses the deadline by 19 days but I found a little playschool that will take him. He goes 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. He loves it... most of the time. It's a little sad for me to have him gone but I love remembering life with just 1 baby a couple hours a week. Finally, we had a pirate party to celebrate the boy turning 3. We ate yummy food, walked the plank, and had a treasure hunt. It's crazy to think Joshua is 3 years old. It has flown by and he's turned into such a fun, hilarious, smart, entertaining 3 year old. Oh yea, Joshua got his first truck. Think he likes it?
My dear grandfather passed away on Sunday, September 18. He was 90 years old. Although I am saddened and will miss him greatly, I know he is in a better place where his suffering and ailments will no longer trouble him. I am thankful that Joshua and Avonlea were able to meet him. He was a wonderful man who lived a life full of accomplishments, love, and happiness. I love you Pop Pop.
Back on May 31, Kevin turned the big three-oh! I had all kinds of grand plans for his birthday (a surprise party, lots of expensive presents, a hot date) but I failed miserably. I did manage however to pull out a few surprises. I stayed up super late the night before taping pictures on the wall in the shape of a 30. It turned out awesome! We also have a NYC trip planned for just the 2 of us which I am beyond excited for.
Totally nothing to do with Kevin turning 30 (but I just couldn't resist), here are some pics of baby girl. She is just getting cuter and cuter!
More random thoughts... The first week of July we were in Seattle for Kevin's family reunion. It was a ton of fun which may be why we didn't take any pictures. Lame. Kevin has an enormous extended family and it was wonderful meeting and getting to know them. Joshua was in heaven with all the kids and fun things to do at Grandma and Grandpa Downing's! Aunt Diane sent me these phone pics of Avonlea with her great-grandparents which are adorable!
Our brother-in-law happened to take this really cute picture of Avonlea and her cousin little Kenny.
I love how Avonlea has such a hugh smile as she holds Kenny's hand.
If you don't already know, we are moving back home! Well, to my home that is. We are leaving Indiana after a year and going to Maryland for a year. Kevin asked for a transfer to Baltimore and was granted it so he will finish up his last year of TFA in Maryland. To say I'm excited is an understatement... I haven't exactly loved our time in the midwest. It's been a hard year mainly because I can't seem to find a lot of young people with kids to socialize with during the day. Being alone all day, everyday leads to a sad little me. I LOVE being around people and having kids for Joshua to play with. But, just to make things clear, Indiana could be a blast! The children's museum is amazing, there are some fun parks around us, and lots of yummy restaurants. So, I'm not blaming Indy, just the lack of fun moms in the city. If we could've lived in Columbus, an hour south, where our family and friends are, I would love the place!
On Sunday, May 22, our sweet baby girl Avonlea was given a wonderful blessing by Kevin. We were fortunate to have Kevin's dad and my parents travel in for the occasion. Kevin's good friend Graham and some friends in our ward were also able to be a part of the blessing. Avonlea wore my blessing dress and looked like a doll in it. It was such a wonderful day!
The luncheon.
The decorations, which were a headache. I was originally going to use the fabric balls I want to put in Avonlea's room but realized that was going to be pushing my time limit. So, I decided to make some tissue balls. I ordered the tissue online and when it came the day before, it was the wrong color. So, I went scrambling around town trying to find some sort of substitute. It ended up working out but I was definitely a bit stressed!
Joshua was not excited to interrupt his playing time to take a picture. He usually loves his picture but he had way too many friends to entertain him!
Beautiful girlie! Seriously, she looks like a doll here.
I can't believe it but we finally got a picture with all 4 of us! It
only took 9 weeks. Here we are Easter Sunday.
